Our Location

Wythe County Community Hospital is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. Here, we encompass a variety of accommodations, recreation, attractions, shopping and restaurants. Interstates 81 and 77 allow travelers to conveniently visit our region to see breathtaking scenic beauty, enjoy a night of entertainment, play a round of golf, or shop the unique gift shops that line Main street.

Quality Of Life

The area offers a cherished quality of life. Educational opportunities are available through Wytheville Community College and a satellite location of Old Dominion University. Wythe County public shcools offer a pupil/teacher ratio of 18:1 in elementary education and 14:1 in secondary education. There are 7 elementary schools and 3 high schools in the county. There are also two private facilities that provide educational opportunities for children. There are over 127 churches located throughout the county, with a wide variety of doctrines and styles suitable for most beliefs.

Recreational Opportunities

Wythe and Bland counties are located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountain range. The Jefferson National Forest, Appalachian Trail, and the New River Trail State Park offer numerous outdoor recreational activities, such as canoeing, hiking, biking, fishing, camping, and horse back riding. The community has two recreation departments that offer sports and leisure activities for all ages. There is a public golf course, Wolfe Creek Country Club, and a private golf course, Wytheville Golf Club.


Wythe County is located near the metro areas of Roanoke, Virginia; Bristol-Kingsport, Tennessee; Bluefield, West Virginia; and Winston Salem, North Carolina where shopping malls and larger retail stores are available. There are also many local shopping opportunities throughout Wytheville and our Main Street is lined with many specialty shops and unique gift stores.
