Virginians Speak Up for Safety! Award

May 7, 2018

A letter from VHHA congratulates Gretta Akers on being nominated for Virginians Speak Up for Safety! Award.

Gretta was nominated during the 1st quarter of this year for the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association’s Virginians Speak Up for Safety! Award.  This statewide award is designed to recognize staff and physicians in Virginia hospitals who identify potential situations for harm in their work environments and speak up when it is easy to say nothing and may be difficult to say something.  She was nominated for the award by Rebecca Snider, Director of Quality, Risk and Patient Safety at Wythe County Community Hospital, for speaking up recently to confirm the unit numbers on blood for two different patients with very similar names.

Gretta received an honorable mention certificate.

Thank you for speaking up!
