Because the birth of a baby is one of the most important events in a family's lifetime, Wythe County Community Hospital strives to make the experience a memorable one for everyone. Every delivery is special to us.
The LDRP Concept
Our experience in maternity care isn't the only thing that will make you feel more comfortable during your delivery. Our private LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) suites will give every Mother and baby a cozy, home-like atmosphere where special moments with the entire family can be shared. We've even included a sleeper sofa for Dad and a rocking chair for Grandma. These spacious suites are designed so that every phase of the birthing experience takes place in one family centered setting. Mother, Dad, baby and family members all share a room equipped to meet their every need.
Preparation for Parenthood
We understand that childbirth is one of life's most joyous times, but it can also make expectant parents feel anxious. Wythe County Community Hospital offers a 5-week course for expectant parents to help answer many of their questions and calm their fears. Preparation for Parenthood covers topics such as labor, delivery, medications, post partum, safety, CPR, social behavior of the newborn, and breastfeeding. These courses are designed to educate and inform the whole family in the excitement of the new baby's arrival. Check our educational calendar for dates.
A Gift for You
Every new mother is given a very special gift (a tote bag, thermal mug, personal items for mom's care post delivery, a bib, blanket, sippy cup, "silver spoon" growth chart and window shade for the car. There is also a diaper bag filled with coupons and samples from the formula companies as well as magazines.
A special lullaby is played after the birth of every baby born before 10 pm in the evening. Mom and dad also receive a candle lit dinner on us to celebrate their newborn.
After leaving the hospital, parents often have many questions abou the care of their baby. We also include a gift pack of informational and educational material to answer your questions and concerns that may arise. And of course, we are always available to answer your questions in the Women's Center.
As an added bonus, we can even help you with application for a birth certificate and social security card.
Lots of special gifts, but the best part of it all is the exceptional care you will get from our highly trained and experienced nursing staff.
