Wythe County Community Hospital Announce 2018 Professional Excellence in Nursing Award

Kathryn Caulder, RN has been selected for the Professional Excellence in Nursing Award for 2018. This award demonstrates exemplary service and dedication to excellence. Recipients epitomize leadership, talent, innovation, commitment, and outstanding outcomes. They are nominated by their peers and selected by the employees at Wythe County Community Hospital.
“Kathryn’s being recognized as the Nurse of the Year exemplifies the level of caring, compassion, and dedication that WCCH provides to our community. Kathryn is an excellent resource for our patients, said Theresa Dix, Chief Nursing Officer at Wythe County Community Hospital. “Her compassion in nursing as a patient care manager has made a difference in the nursing staff and supports the care they provide for our patients.”
“Being selected for this award is a testament to the passion Kathryn has for her patients,” said Joseph Wilkins, Chief Executive Officer. “Kathryn coordinates the movement of patients between their hospital stay and their post-acute care after discharge and is instrumental in determining the best choice in services to meet the medical and social needs of the patient. We hope that Kathryn will continue to pave the way for the organization for many years to come.”
Kathryn received her associate degree in nursing from Central Carolina Technical College/University in Sumter, SC. Caulder began her career at WCCH in 2014 as a patient care manager.
Caulder and her husband David have four children, Robert, Rose Marie, Brendan, and Kirsten. Caulder enjoys cooking and baking and loves to travel.
