American Heart Association Wytheville-Bland HeartChase Raises Awareness and $21,200

July 13, 2016

Wythe County Community Hospital and other area businesses once again sponsored and participated in The American Heart Association’s 3nd Annual HeartChase in Wytheville on Saturday, June 4th at Wither’s Park.

The results of the fundraising campaign totaled $21,200 with 28 teams and 106 players. This new innovative event offered the community a creative way to explore downtown, have a good time and contribute to an important cause. HeartChase was guaranteed a lot of fun for all involved. HeartChase allowed all participants the chance to have an adventure, without having to leave their community, and raise money to support the life-saving work of the American Heart Association.

The adventure took teams of 5 people throughout Withers Park and downtown where participants had to solve clues to complete checkpoints in the quickest time possible – to beat the other teams and be named as HeartChase champions. This year’s winners included: First Place: Wythe Rehabilitation & Therapy Services (formerly Your Body Works); 2nd Place: Somic America’s Heartbeats and 3rd Place: Curves of Wytheville #5 Team. Chad Melton, CEO of Wythe County Community Hospital said, “We were excited about bringing HeartChase back to our community to promote the awareness of heart disease and stroke. We are excited about the growth of this event in our community and encourage others to participate in 2017.” There is more than one way to take part in this adventure! Community members can volunteer to become part of a team that is striving to put this incredible event together; participate in the actual race; or just contribute to worthy cause of the American Heart Association.
