Mayor Presents Proclamation to Wythe County Community Hospital

Wythe County Community Hospital received an official proclamation by Wytheville Town Council naming May 10 -16, 2020 as National Hospital Week for Wytheville. Mayor Beth Taylor presented the proclamation to Wythe County Community Hospital’s CEO, Joseph Wilkins. The proclamation reads:
WHEREAS, healthcare is critical to sustaining and improving the communities we serve; and,
WHEREAS, Hospital Week celebrates men and women who improve the health of their communities through compassionate patient care; and,
WHEREAS, in 2019, Wythe County Community Hospital provided nearly $13.9 million in uncompensated care to those in need and other economic impact services; and,
WHEREAS, in 2019, Wythe County Community Hospital provided $1.2 million in capital improvements to ensure the community’s healthcare needs were met; and,
WHEREAS, Wythe County Community Hospital employs more than 350 individuals, generating revenue in our local economic activity; and,
WHEREAS, Wythe County Community Hospital is a top five employer in Wythe County; and,
WHEREAS, Wythe County Community Hospital is dedicated to providing quality care, education and leadership to patients, families and visitors; and,
WHEREAS, Virginia Hospital Week is an opportunity to thank all the dedicated individuals at Wythe County Community Hospital for their outstanding contributions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that I, Beth A. Taylor, Mayor of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, do hereby recognize May 10 - 16, 2020, as HOSPITAL WEEK in the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
