Wythe County Community Hospital Names Medical Office Building
August 5, 2019
Wythe County Community Hospital and Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, August 2, 2019. The celebration unveiled the naming of Wythe County Community Hospitals medical office buildings located at 360 and 342 Virginia Avenue, Wytheville, in memory of the late Douglas Rogney, MD, primary care physician and in honor of R. Cecil and Seawillow U. Jackson.
The name of the medical office building is Rogney-Jackson Medical Complex. “We’re pleased to share this new identity structure with our community,” said Joseph Wilkins, CEO of Wythe County Community Hospital. “Naming the building gives us an opportunity to recognize our community members who developed the property several years ago and create better wayfinding for our patients.” Dr. Rogney and Jackson were business partners who developed the piece of the property several years ago to move Wythe Medical Associates to a new office building and location.
The new name will allow a reference point when patients are trying to find medical offices that can sometimes be hidden between the main hospital campus and the Walmart shopping plaza. Currently, Wythe Medical Associates and Community Health Care occupy building B. Dr. Chase King, Wythe Physician Practices First Choice Family Care has opened his primary care practice in building A. WCCH plans to occupy the remainder of the complex with other health care professionals and services to support its mission and easy access to care.
