Wythe County Community Hospital (WCCH) is pleased to welcome Jessica Newman, MSN, FNP-C, a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and proud native of Rural Retreat, to its Family Practice team.

Newman brings more than 17 years of nursing experience to her new role, with a strong background in both hospital and outpatient care. She began her career in acute care of the elderly at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital before serving nearly a decade in the Labor and Delivery Unit at WCCH. While earning her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN, she completed clinical rotations in family medicine at Fort Chiswell Medical Center. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.

For the past eight years, Newman has specialized in Women’s Health, caring for patients across all stages of life. In her new role, she will provide a wide range of services including:

• Women’s health
• Children’s health
• Blood pressure management
• Immunizations
• Diabetes care
• Arthritis management
• Sick visits
• Preventive health

  An active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Newman is committed to lifelong learning and looks forward to serving the families of Wythe County in a primary care setting.

  Outside of work, Newman enjoys live music, reading, cooking, traveling, and hiking with her German Shepherd, Roxanne. She is also a proud mother of three young children, ages 1, 5, and 7.
