Wythe County Community Hospital Releases 2025 Community Benefit Report Highlighting $26.5 Million in Community Impact

Wytheville, Va. — Wythe County Community Hospital (WCCH) has released its 2025 Community Benefit Report, outlining more than $26.5 million in total community impact through charity care, capital investment, payroll, taxes and community programs during the past year.
According to the report, WCCH provided more than $17.9 million in charity care and other uncompensated services, ensuring access to care for patients regardless of their ability to pay. The hospital also invested more than $3.4 million in capital improvements, including advanced technology and facility enhancements to expand services close to home.
In 2025, WCCH strengthened access to care by adding new providers across multiple specialties, including primary care, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, OB/GYN, pediatrics, pulmonology, urology and wound care. The hospital supported approximately 410 employees through a $35.5 million payroll and contributed $8.4 million in taxes, reinforcing its role as a major employer and economic driver in Wythe County.
The report also highlights WCCH’s commitment to quality and safety, including earning consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group and recognition as a Lifepoint Health National Quality Leader, reflecting excellence in leadership, performance improvement and patient engagement.
