Wythe County Community Hospital Names Tim Anderson Chief Nursing Officer

April 14, 2026

WYTHEVILLE, VA – April 2026 – Wythe County Community Hospital (WCCH) announced today that Tim Anderson has been named Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), effective April 27.

Anderson brings more than three decades of nursing and healthcare leadership experience and a deep understanding of what it means to care for patients and support caregivers in community‑based hospitals. In his role as CNO, he will oversee nursing services and partner closely with clinical teams to ensure patients continue to receive safe, high‑quality, and compassionate care close to home.

“We are excited to welcome Tim Anderson to our team at WCCH,” said Theresa Dix, CEO of Wythe County Community Hospital. “His proven leadership and clinical expertise will make him an exceptional addition to our executive team.”

The experience he will bring to WCCH comes from his long list of impressive credentials gained throughout his tenure in the healthcare industry. Most recently, Anderson served as Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at West Virginia University Medicine Princeton Community Hospital, a 206‑bed acute care facility in Princeton, West Virginia. There, he provided oversight for ICU/CCU, Med‑Surg, Surgical Services, Women’s Services, Case Management, Emergency Services, and a 65‑bed behavioral health facility.

His leadership included successful integration into the WVU Health System and transition to the EPIC electronic medical record. He led the redesign of the nursing care model, implementation of a new 18‑bed medical‑surgical unit, and addition of hemodialysis and CRRT services in the ICU. He also eliminated contract labor use and advanced quality initiatives that significantly reduced hospital‑acquired conditions while improving patient satisfaction.

Prior to that role, Anderson served as Interim Chief Nursing Officer at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama, where he provided steady leadership during a period of transition. He focused on strengthening staffing, planning for long‑term clinical needs, and preparing the organization for regulatory review, helping ensure patients continued to receive safe, reliable care while guiding the hospital out of immediate jeopardy related to surgical instrumentation.

He also held senior leadership roles at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee, including Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Acute Care Services. In those roles, he worked closely with frontline teams to improve patient safety, modernize clinical systems such as EPIC, support successful Joint Commission surveys, and foster strong staff engagement.

This experience aligns closely with WCCH’s commitment to supporting its caregivers and delivering dependable, high‑quality care to the Wytheville community.

Anderson also brings strong regional ties, having previously served as Associate Administrator and Chief Nursing Officer at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia. In that role, he oversaw nursing practice and multiple ancillary departments, including infection prevention, pharmacy, quality and outcomes management, and emergency response planning during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

“I am honored to join Wythe County Community Hospital and to be part of an organization that means so much to this community,” said Anderson. “I have long valued the role community hospitals play in caring for patients and supporting families close to home. I look forward to working alongside the nursing staff and leadership team to build on the strong foundation here and continue advancing quality, safety, and compassionate care.”

Anderson holds a Master of Science in Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University, and an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from the Virginia Appalachian Tri‑College Nursing Program. He is also a Certified Executive of Nursing Practice (CENP) through the American Organization of Nurse Leaders.
