Wythe County Community Hospital Supporting Charities

Wythe County Community Hospital’s Rewards and Recognition Committee continue “Friday Jean Day” as a day the employees can wear jeans to work and give $5 towards a local charity.  Joe Wilkins, WCCH CEO presented a check to Andy Kegley, executive director, and Mike Pugh, food security coordinator as the charity of choice for January and March recipients.  WCCH also supports the Big Pencil to Big Walker Ride each year.

“Supporting local organizations and delivering healthcare to all of our neighbors, regardless of their ability to pay, are foundational to our commitment in the communities we serve. In addition to numerous sponsorships and charitable gifts to organizations like HOPE, Inc., we delivered more than $2.98 million in uncompensated healthcare to those in our community who were in need,” said Joe Wilkins, CEO.

HOPE Packs Community Backpack Program is partially funded by the Wythe-Bland Foundation, a program to ensure that young students in Wythe and Bland counties have food to eat during weekends and holidays.

Open Door is one of more than 60 nonprofit community cafes operating across the country that offer meals to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. It is the first such restaurant to open in Southwest Virginia. The restaurant is part of HOPE’s work to address housing needs and food insecurity in Wythe County and surrounding areas.
