PET Scan
PET/CT Scanner
At Wythe County Community Hospital, our PET/CT scanner combines advanced imaging technology to help detect and evaluate cancer with greater accuracy.
- Uses Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to identify metabolic activity of cancer cells
- Uses Computed Tomography (CT) to produce detailed images of internal anatomy
- Combines both scans into one seamless study for more precise results
- Helps physicians accurately determine the location, size, and activity of cancer
- Performs both scans at the same time, reducing the chance of positioning differences and improving accuracy
- Supports more informed and personalized treatment planning
CT (CAT Scan) Imaging
Our CT department provides high-quality diagnostic imaging to support fast, accurate diagnoses for a wide range of conditions.
- CT (also called CAT scan) is an advanced X-ray procedure
- Produces cross-sectional images of the body, similar to viewing slices of a loaf of bread
- Can create three-dimensional images for a more complete view of organs and structures
- Helps physicians evaluate injuries, detect abnormalities, and guide treatment decisions
- Offers fast, non-invasive imaging for patients across our community
CT Angiography (CTA)
WCCH also offers CT Angiography (CTA), an advanced imaging option used to evaluate blood vessels throughout the body.
- Uses CT technology to visualize blood flow in arteries
- Examines vessels supplying the brain, lungs, kidneys, arms, and legs
- Less invasive than traditional catheter angiography
- Uses contrast injected through a vein, not directly into an artery
- Typically performed as an outpatient procedure, without hospital admission
- Commonly used to screen for and evaluate arterial disease
