Wythe County Community Hospital Names 2020 Mercy Award Winner
July 3, 2020
Hospitals are full of unsung heroes – people who take care and concern for others to a whole new level. Wythe County Community Hospital is singing the praises of one such individual. Zane Perkins was awarded the hospital’s 2020 Mercy Award.
Established in 2002 to honor the life of Scott Mercy, founding Chairman and CEO of LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., the Mercy Award is the highest honor an employee can receive. The annual award recognizes one hospital employee who best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
Zane was one of several employees nominated for this prestigious award. It was no surprise to many when they heard numerous stories of his kindness. He spends time volunteering for the American Cancer Society, Senior Day in the Park, American Heart Association Heart Walk, and many other community events. He has worked at Wythe County Community Hospital for five years and he is the market manager for Wythe Physician Practices, LLC.
“LifePoint Hospitals is committed to delivering the highest quality patient care possible. We are extremely proud to recognize Zane Perkins for his efforts on behalf of our patients and our community,” said Joseph Wilkins, Wythe County Community Hospital CEO. “His exemplary work and compassion set a high standard for healthcare professionals. We are proud to have Zane as part of our employee family. Undoubtedly, our patients benefit from the kind of commitment to excellence and to humanitarian concerns he demonstrates each day.”
This honor puts Zane in the running for LifePoint Hospitals’ 2020 company-wide Mercy Award.
